Privacy Policy

Effective: July 1 2026

This policy explains how GIS Defence Awareness Platform ("we") handles information in connection with GIS Defence Awareness Platform(the "Service"). We designed the Service to collect as little personal data as possible. There are no user accounts.

Who is responsible

The data controller is GIS Defence Awareness Platform. For any privacy request, contact info@gisdefence.com.

What we collect

  • Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting/server automatically records technical data such as IP address, browser/user-agent, requested pages, and timestamps. We use this to operate and secure the Service and to prevent abuse.
  • Location (optional). Some map features may request your location through your browser. This only happens if you grant permission at the browser prompt. It is used in your browser to centre the map; we do not store it.
  • Local storage. We store a small flag in your browser (for example, to remember that you dismissed the entry notice). This stays on your device and is not a tracking cookie.
  • No advertising or tracking. We do not run advertising and do not use third-party tracking or profiling cookies.

Cookies & similar technologies

We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use only strictly-necessary/functional local storage as described above. Note that embedded third-party content may set its own cookies once you interact with it:

  • YouTube (live news embeds) — embedded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube may still process data if you play a video, under Google's privacy policy.
  • CARTO / OpenStreetMap (map tiles) — receive your IP address to deliver map imagery, as any map provider does.

How data is shared

Most third-party data feeds are retrieved by our server on your behalf, so your browser is not exposed to those providers. Your browser communicates directly only with our hosting provider and with the embedded providers named above. We do not sell personal data.

Legal bases (where GDPR applies)

We rely on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Service (server logs), and on your consent for optional features such as browser location.

Retention

Server logs are retained only as long as needed for security and operation, then deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Depending on your location (e.g. EU/UK GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA, Canada PIPEDA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact info@gisdefence.com.

Children

The Service is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

International transfers

The Service is hosted by HOSTING PROVIDER & REGION. Accessing it may involve transferring technical data across borders, subject to appropriate safeguards where required.

Changes

We may update this policy; the effective date above will change accordingly.
